One of trees that are most popular for people’s yards are the palm trees.People really appreciate the way they look because they can enhance a garden. But what a lot of people fail to understand is that palm trees don’t do well in some climates.  This is mostly due to the climate.Often the areas that are colder will make it harder for palm trees to grow.  But you can still grow palm trees if you know how to care for them.  In this article we will go over a couple of things you need to do to care for them.

First of all some palm trees like the foxtail palm in colder climates develop fungal diseases.  This is mainly due to the roots getting to much water. The way that works best in avoiding htis is to plant the tree in warmer weather climates.  But if it can’t be avoided and you want to try to grow it keep the soil drained. That way will work the best to stop this type of disease from happening.

Another type of disease that affects palms such as coconut palm trees are leaf blight.  This is where there are yellow or brown spots on the leaf.  This will spread and start killing all the leaves. The way that works best is to make sure you prune all the areas that are affected.  Also you want to treat it with fungicide and add iron to it. When you don’t have enough iron it is one reason for this, so add some nutrients.

Finally most palm trees get diseases from overwatering. On a few occasions what happens is poor drainage causes the water to become trapped in the soil. This will be the reason for a lot of disease happening.  So if you are looking for palm trees for sale keep this things in mind.If you make sure to do these things your palm trees will last a long time and look beautiful. It isn’t a pleasant thing to have happen when your palm dies because of diseases.
